Even in temperate zones of the Earth avoiding overheating of the building in summer is gaining importance more and more. The pattern design of The Optimum House let plan this function in an elegant and sustainable way.
The Optimum House not only provides adequate protection for residents against low temperatures but also against overheating during periods of excessive heat. The central regulating point of the Optimum House is in this case the compact envelope geometry of the building and its location within the plot, which makes it a self-regulating system, not requiring the use of complicated or complex technology. An important role in this system is performed by the overhanging roof that protects the building against direct sunlight penetration during the high positioning of the summer sun. Technology can play a supporting role, for example, a heat pump with a cooling function. In other areas, a relevant function preventing overheating is performed by the same solutions that keep the heat inside the building during winter. Supporting role can be played by shutter or external blinds.
